ILSI SEA Region held a Workshop on Food-consumption surveys in developing countries: Future challenges, in January 25–26, 2003, as a satellite meeting of the Fifth International Conference on Dietary Assessment Methods held in Chiang Rai, Thailand. The workshop brought together 30 nutritionists and food safety experts from 10 Southeast Asian countries as well as from countries outside the region and provided a forum for information sharing and discussions on the gathering of food-consumption data in developing countries for purposes of nutrition assessment, exposure assessment, and studies of diet-disease relationships. The workshop report was published in Food and Nutrition Bulletin in 2004 and contains a summary of the proceedings, workshop highlights, discussions and recommendations.
