ILSI SEA Region Malaysia Country Community, Ministry of Health, Malaysia and Institute of Medical Research, Malaysia
Sugar is widely consumed in Malaysia through various foods and beverages, yet limited data in the Malaysian Food Composition Database (MyFCD) has restricted research on its dietary sources. This study analyzed 118 commonly consumed foods identified from the Malaysian Adult Nutrition Survey (MANS) 2014, covering both pre-packaged and traditional items across eight food categories. The findings provide essential updates to the MyFCD and serve as a useful reference to help Malaysians make more informed and healthier food choices.
