OVERVIEW

Food consumption patterns are rapidly changing all over the world including Indonesia. Urbanization, raising incomes, changing lifestyle have diminished the consumption of traditional meals. These changes have affected consumer food choice and consumer food behavior. Nutrition labelling may also play a role in influencing consumer food choices.

OBJECTIVES

This one-day seminar aimed to:

  • Enhance understanding of the determinants of consumer food choices and awareness in food labeling in Indonesia
  • Provide an understanding of risk communication principles and explore risk communication and consumer education strategies
  • Present the latest findings on the understanding of health claims and the role of nutrition labeling and claims in changing consumer behavior
